The Green Polka Dot Box Giveaway!

The Green Polka Dot Box!
Add caption

Do you remember that I mentioned a less expensive way to purchase my new favorite Raw Vegan Sunwarrior Protein? Well, I'm about to tell you how to not only purchase less expensive protein powder, but many other natural and organic foods! I'm SO excited about this, and I think that you'll feel the same! Last year, I became a founding trust member of The Green Polka Dot Box, an online natural and organic food store. It was just launched last year, but has been a huge hit.

When I considered joining The Green Polka Dot Box, I had several questions that needed to be answered before I jumped in. All of the orders are placed online at their website. Shipping is free if you place an order over $150, which is easy for me. With a small child, I LOVE the ease of online shopping!! They pack the boxes with insulation depending on what the weather is like, and deliver it directly to your door. There is a chance that some of the products can freeze, but I haven't had any issues yet. There are lots of raw products on the website that I really love! This is a great place to get some of those raw items that you aren't able to find at local places. Of course I have bought many of their other products since my husband and son don't eat completely raw. I did do some research and found that their prices are definitely lower compared to local grocery stores. I also asked about the possibility of fresh produce, which they said should be added this upcoming summer, and will be shipped directly from the farm to ensure that it stays fresh.

So, here's the super great news for you: As a founding trust member, I have the opportunity to gift away several free memberships per year worth $125. That means that you pay no fee to buy less expensive groceries, earn reward points every time referred friends shop, get free shipping on orders over $150, conveniently pick out your groceries from home, and get a personal purchase discount of 5%!!

Delivered straight to your door!
Here's just one of my orders.

Raw almonds and dates. My sister-in-law was pretty impressed with how much cheaper the raw almonds are. These almond and date prices have greatly reduced the cost of making my favorite raw oatmeal!
Cleaning, laundry, and hygiene products.

Tahini, fruit spread, raw agave, and raw maca.
Annie's mac n cheese, almond milk, gluten free granola bars, ketchup.
Soup and gluten free pasta. I have also gotten great little free samples in each order I've placed, which is a nice way to see if you like something before buying it.
So, here's the deal: I'm giving a free $125 membership away to one lucky reader! One lucky reader will be chosen at random from random.org. Here's how to place an entry. If you become a follower of this blog, you automatically get 5 entries. For each comment that you make on blog posts this week, you get one additional entry for each comment. One entry allowed per blogpost. Today starts the first chance to enter, and it closes on Saturday February 25th, 2012 at 2359.

  1. I see what you've bought here, but what do you typically purchase from the site? What did you purchase the Maca powder for? Why should I be eating Maca? How much was it? How often do you need to re-purchase the Maca powder or the Sun Warrior Protein Powder? At $35 a bag, roughly, I'd like to know how often you need to purchase it? Sorry. Lots of questions.

  2. No worries Laura! I love the questions and will answer them the best that I can!

I typically purchase many of the items above: gluten free pasta, raw nuts and seeds, almond milk in case I don't have time to make it, sun warrior protein, Maca powder, soups for quick lunches for G, raw agave, etc. Basically anything I can get from here instead of the grocery store d/t the cost and convenience. There's a lot of variety of different foods that are available so you just have to take a look and see what you think! I LOVE it!!

Maca: great for energy and endurance, muscular strength, helps regulate hormones (these are the reasons I started taking it) helps regulate and stabilize the circulatory, lymph, hormonal, and musculature system, mood and memory enhancer, and helps libido. It's $8.21 and I use 1 tbs per day (unless I forget a day, which does happen on occasion) I probably need a new bag once every 4-6 weeks maybe. That's a huge guess since I don't typically keep track. It has a strange taste and some people don't like it. Slightly bitter, nutty, malty.... Mixed with grape juice is the best or you could try a smoothie! (I could spot you a sample!!) With the sun warrior, I also haven't kept track. I have 2 back up bags in the cupboard (I'm kind of a hoarder when it comes to that kind of stuff!) and I went through my first bag in 8 weeks, but it entirely depends on how many shakes you want to make a day. I'm in the process of increasing my servings per day, but just haven't done it yet. This fall I did 0-2 a day.

Does this answer your questions Laura? Feel free to ask away anytime!!

  3. As for the Sun Warrior protein, I use it as a supplement to help with muscle building. This raw diet while planning to compete is totally new to me, so I'm trying to see what works for my body. My intake is likely higher than the average Joe, but my goals are different.

  4. That maca sounds like good stuff. I am just beginning to experiment with these superfoods. I was excited to se Costco have Chia Seeds at roughly 6.50 for 2lbs if I am remembering right and a good price on Quinoa as well. I also buy agave there but just read an article about how the processed agave is like sugar or worse and that is why it is better to get it raw. Bummer because I use it a lot and this will mean spending more money :( Why does it have to be so expensive to eat healthy?!
