Mint

Mint is so refreshing and surprisingly good for your health! I picked some up the other day because it's always good to get a variety of herbs, veggies, and fruit to juice. The variety provides far more nutrients than just sticking with the same ole recipes. Mint reduces free radicals, inflammation, asthma, and is great for the GI system to name a few of its benefits. See the link below to read more about the awesome power of mint!!

Big Daddy E's green juice!

3 celery sticks
3 Granny Smith apples
4 lacinato kale leaves
1 lemon
Small bunch of broccoli
1 in knob of ginger
1 in piece burdock root

My husband juiced up these veggies the other night, and it turned out really good!! Plus it's always nice to be served, rather than be the server;-)

Raw Food Night

Green Owl Cafe April Raw Food Night

Loved this soup! It was a bit tart, but I like that. It had lemon in it. The onion rings were good, but probably my least favorite
The cole slaw was my favorite! AMAZING!
I like veggie burgers but the texture was a bit odd if you're not used to some of the dehydrated raw foods. It was good with the tomato and condiments!

And who doesn't love strawberries? This was a great end to the meal! Very tasty!

Salad:  Classic side salad of romaine, cucumber, tomato dressed with a creamy ranch and smokey “bac-un” bits.

Soup:  Spring Soup, a fresh herb Pistou with an array of green herbs.

Small Plate:  Crispy onion rings and spicy ketchup.

Entree:  Lettuce wrapped Veggie Burger with tomato, onion, avocado, ketchup and dijon aioli with a side of creamy poppy seed coleslaw.

Dessert:  Strawberry Shortcake

This is the easiest and fastest soup and it's amazingly delicious! And yes, I drank it out of a glass!! When you have an infant and a 4 year old, the fastest consumption possible is preferred:-)

1 cucumber
1 avocado
4-5 handfuls of spinach
Juice of one lemon
1 tsp salt
1-2 cups almond milk
1-2 cups water to get consistency you want!!

Enjoy!!!

Purple Cabbage Salad

Since I've been juicing purple cabbage lately and I eat half of it before it ever hits the juicer, I decided to go in search of a good cabbage salad. I love cabbage!! I happened to find one from Oh She Glows and had all of the ingredients needed! I made a few changes: I didn't use toasted seasame seeds. I used hemp seeds instead. And for the dressing, I didn't use all of the water. It turned out amazing!!

Salad
Tahini Lemon Dressing
If you like cabbage I highly recommend this!!! Cabbage is really good for us and probably not eaten very often by most people!! Enjoy!!!

Springtime salad

Since the weather isn't completely cooperating with my dreams of warm temps, I decided I'd pretend it was a warm springtime day with this yummy salad!!

Here's what I used. All organic ingredients.

Mixed greens
Broccoli sprouts
Sunflower sprouts
Green and red peppers
Cucumbers
Cherry tomatoes
Blueberries
Strawberries
Craisins
Poppyseed dressing (not raw but one of my favorite non-raw dressings)

It's a refreshing springtime salad!! Apples are a great choice too if you want to substitute anything. Enjoy!!
