In case you aren't familiar with raw foods and what everything means, here are a few bits of information about it.
A raw lifestyle consists of eating raw, plant based foods. You may read other names like; live food, living cuisine, or sunfoods. The foods are naturally grown wild or grown organically. Seeds, nuts, fruits, vegetable, and occasionally spouted grains are the core ingredients of any raw food lifestyle. Most raw foodists do not consume any animal products with the occasional exception of raw honey and bee pollen. They also do not use any pasteurized ingredients due to the temperature required in pasteurization.
To be considered raw, the foods can not be heated over 118 degrees. The higher temperatures destroy the healthy enzymes in the foods.( ie. vitamins and minerals) Cooking also changes the color and texture of foods, and it burns off all of the water they contain as well.
There are a variety of reasons why people decide to go raw. Whether for weight loss, increased energy, brighter skin, disease fighting properties, or just to rid your body of the dangerous chemicals in foods today, it can be a fun and exciting change. It's always best to start out incorporating a little at a time, as not to set yourself up for failure. Even adding in a few raw meals or snacks per day is better than nothing!
Ok, I'm off for a run this morning since I have a few hours to myself before work:)
